8. SMS Authentication and Mobile Information
ProfitOptics offers SMS-based two-factor authentication as a security feature within applications we deliver to our business clients through our Solutions Accelerator. The following terms apply specifically to mobile information used for SMS authentication:
- Source of consent. Mobile telephone numbers used for SMS authentication are provided by an authorized administrator at the client company, who confirms at the time of enrollment that the employee has consented to receive authentication messages at that number as part of their employment.
- Use of mobile numbers. Mobile numbers are used solely to deliver one-time passcodes (OTPs) and authentication codes in response to user-initiated login attempts and sensitive in-app actions.
- No marketing use. Mobile information is never used for marketing or promotional messaging, and is never shared, sold, rented, or transferred to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
- Service providers. Mobile information is processed by the licensed telecommunications and messaging service providers required to deliver authentication messages. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may not use the information for their own purposes.
- Opt-out. Recipients may reply STOP at any time to opt out of further authentication messages, and HELP for assistance. STOP and HELP keywords are handled automatically. Message and data rates may apply.
For full details about how SMS authentication works in applications built using our Solutions Accelerator, including how consent is established and how administrators enroll employees, see our SMS Authentication Policy.
